What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a series of clear aligners custom-made to fit a patient’s teeth. It has become an extremely popular and wildly effective alternative to traditional metal braces. The Invisalign Edmonton system is used for a range of orthodontic concerns from mild cases of crooked or protruding teeth to more involved issues of malocclusion, overbite, underbite, severely spaced or overly crowded teeth instead of traditional brackets, bars, and bands.
These aligner trays are made of smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible plastic that you wear over your teeth. Wearing the Invisalign aligners will gradually and gently shift your teeth into place, based on the exact movements Dr. Yoo plans out for you. Dr. Yoo prefers Invisalign Edmonton because it gradually shifts and rotates your teeth resulting in less root damage.
Unlike traditional braces, there are no metal brackets to attach and no wires to tighten. You simply pop in a new set of aligners approximately every two weeks, until your treatment is complete. You’ll achieve a beautiful smile with little interference in your daily life. The best part about the whole Invisalign process is that most people won’t even know you’re straightening your teeth!
Benefits for Invisalign Edmonton Treatment
If you are wondering what is so great about them and why it has been so popular, you can see some advantages here:
*One of the biggest ways Invisalign draws users in is the benefit of being virtually invisible, and removable. This makes it easier for you to brush and floss after eating while undergoing treatment and no one will notice.
*Compared to traditional braces, Invisalign Edmonton is much more comfortable. The smooth plastic aligners fit comfortably around your teeth. They provide steady consistent pressure on your teeth which wont lead to root resorption (AKA shrinking) or cause heavy discomfort like when you get your braces tightened.
*Of course, you should wear your aligners for most of the time, even at bedtime, but you can remove them as needed. This allows you to brush and floss using the same techniques and much faster than traditional braces.

How The Process Works
At your initial appointment, Dr.Yoo will examine your teeth to determine whether Invisalign Edmonton is right for you. In the next stage, we’ll take a 3D scan using an iTero scanner and digital photos to create a virtual presentation and develop a detailed treatment plan. You will see how your teeth could move and the expected outcome through this simulation. Once everything for the pre-treatment process, including payment options, is set, you can start your Invisalign!
Invisalign Edmonton works in a series of trays, each tray adding slightly more pressure to your teeth in order to gradually move them into the desired positions. In order to move your teeth in various directions, placement of small white fillings called attachments will allow the trays to grab the teeth more effectively. We will schedule your check-ups every 4 to 6 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. The average length for the entire treatment is typically 6 to 12months, but it depends on each case.
